Having been brought up in Chandigarh, India; a city famous for the mosaic work of Nek Chand Saini, Kanta developed a love for art and textiles at a very young age.
“From a young age, I have always enjoyed artistic challenges. I achieved exceptional recognition in the State of Punjab for my intricate embroidery pieces. Throughout my life I have explored, and combined different art forms. It was in 1996 that I had discovered my passion for mosaics, my thoughts and stories have enabled the creation of a number of imaginative pieces. These have given me both great pleasure, and a sense of personal achievement.”
Now living in West London, Kanta is a very active mosaic artist. Whilst working on mosaics to broaden her portfolio, for customers who have requested commissioned pieces and for commercial clients - Kanta puts a great deal of energy into sharing the joy of mosaic art with her community, and teaching aspiring mosaic artists.
Kanta leads a mosaic workshop hosted by Age Concern Hounslow, this has proved extremely enjoyable for both her and her students. Rhobena West, one of Kanta’s many talented students; won a mosaic competition sponsored by Topps Tiles; Rhobena was one of 14 regional winners, chosen from 150 hopefuls. The competition generated a great deal of interest amongst local press, this served as great promotion for the wonderful charity Age Concern, and Kanta’s impressive mosaic work.

Kanta regularly exhibits her work, in and around the London areas. Her exhibitions have been received extremely well amongst both artists and buyers. In July 2006 Kanta mounted a collection of her pieces entitled ‘Story Stones’ in the beautiful grounds of Osterley park.
